Amazon Web Services brings digital edge to Xuhui's gaming industry
Amazon Web Services inaugurated a digital empowerment center in Shanghai's Xuhui district on July 23, designed to assist local gaming enterprises in driving digital innovation and expanding globally through AWS' cloud technologies and global partner network.
The center will provide full-lifecycle solutions for the gaming industry, enabling developers to create, run, and grow their games with cutting-edge technologies in areas such as 3D content creation, cloud streaming, player matchmaking, content review, data analytics, and AI customer service.
During the launch event, AWS and the Xuhui district commission of science and technology announced a cooperation initiative to boost the gaming sector by connecting leading tech firms and accelerating AI applications. Partners like ThinkingData, Yostar, and Vast have already joined the center, enhancing AWS' platform.
In addition, the Hope of Light gaming cluster base was unveiled at Caohejing Hi-Tech Park, offering a one-stop platform to support the growth of gaming companies from startups to global players. The base includes a six-member expert committee to provide professional guidance on content creation, capital operations, and technological solutions. Eight innovative enterprises specializing in areas such as console game development, metaverse applications, and AI+ gaming have already settled in.
Xuhui district has become a key hub for both AI and the gaming industry, hosting nearly 600 large model enterprises, over 1,000 AI enterprises, and 70-plus gaming enterprises, including Tencent and NetEase.
With a complete industrial chain spanning R&D, release, and operation, the district's gaming industry generated over 70 billion yuan ($9.75 billion) in operating revenue in 2024, accounting for over 40 percent of the city's total.
