Shanghai expedites CIIE exhibits entry through green channels
A cargo ship carrying exhibits for the upcoming 8th China International Import Expo docked at Shanghai's Waigaoqiao port on Oct 21, with Shanghai border inspection authorities and port units launching "green channels" to ensure the safe and timely arrival of the goods.
This special arrangement follows similar efforts for earlier arrivals from countries including Peru and South Africa, reflecting a consistent commitment to facilitating the expo.
The CIIE, seen as a crucial platform connecting China with the world, provides businesses with a window into China's opening-up and a chance to tap into the Chinese market.
The ship, COSCO Felixstowe, departed from Auckland, New Zealand's largest port, on Sept 20. It carried dairy products, natural mineral water from New Zealand, alongside products from Niue such as coconut oil and hand-woven crafts, giving attendees a taste of the South Pacific.
For exhibitors like Theland, a New Zealand dairy company, the CIIE represents a vital opportunity. Set to participate in all eight editions of the expo, the company plans to debut multiple new products to meet the increasingly diverse and sophisticated health needs of Chinese consumers.
Wei Guo, manager of Shanghai COSCO Shipping Lines Waigaoqiao Office, emphasized the tailored logistics solutions for temperature-sensitive products: "For products such as dairy items, which require strict transport conditions, the carrier has customized a special protection plan, relying on advanced temperature-controlled storage and transportation equipment throughout the process to build a stable and reliable 'sea mobile refrigerator', to ensure the exhibits arrive in Shanghai in optimal condition."
The "green channel", covering transportation to customs clearance, unloading, and transit, strengthens the CIIE's "goods-to-exhibits, exhibits-to-commodities" chain.
Gao Er, captain of the Second Team of Waigaoqiao Border Inspection Station, added that the station, in coordination with port units, provides pre-arrival inspection and one-stop services to ensure efficient and convenient customs clearance for CIIE exhibits.
With the expo approaching, Shanghai border inspection authorities are rolling out eight facilitation measures, including dedicated CIIE border inspection channels, a dedicated CIIE hotline on the 12367 service platform, a "green channel" for CIIE exhibits, and immigration management services stationed at the exhibition site.
