David Shirley, head of school at Shanghai Singapore International School, spent a day at a senior service center in Minhang district with older residents.

"I wasn't quite sure whether or not all of the seniors were happily engaged," said David. "But as I went through the whole day, I did notice a sense of belonging."

By the end of 2025, Shanghai was home to 557 community-based comprehensive senior service centers citywide. Conveniently accessible within walking distance, these integrated hubs provide diverse services that enhance everyday happiness, safety, and well-being for the city's aging population.
