In a harmonious blend of tradition and modernity, Zhangyuan – the historic quarter of East China's Shanghai – is now home to the first pop-up store of Birkenstock in China.

The German shoemaker unveiled its exclusive store on May 9, nestled amid the shikumen houses in Jing'an district, renowned for their unique fusion of Western and Chinese architectural styles.

The pop-up store presents Birkenstock's revered 1774 collection, a tribute to the brand's venerable 250-year legacy of shoemaking excellence.

Designed to resonate with Zhangyuan's dynamic spirit, the store offers a compelling shopping experience that connects the area's historical charm and the pulsating beat of contemporary consumerism.

Upon entering, visitors embark on a journey through seven distinct zones, each offering a tactile slice of Birkenstock's heritage. Highlights include a 250th-anniversary commemorative book display, an interactive footbed experience zone, and an exclusive showcase of the 1774 collection.

More than just a retail space, the store is a testament to Birkenstock's core values of practicality, quality, and a deep respect for heritage – all woven into an engaging, multi-dimensional retail narrative.

It has become a magnet for high-profile events such as Ferrari and Shell's Power City flash event and the "First in Shanghai" global promotion ceremony. These gatherings underscore Zhangyuan's emergence as an epicenter for luxury brands.
