Swiss watchmaker Audemars Piguet stages global expo in Shanghai
Swiss luxury watchmaker Audemars Piguet has chosen Shanghai for the global premiere of its 150th anniversary exhibition — called The House of Wonders — marking another major international brand's first expo in the city.
The exhibition — with free admission to the public from now to June 8 at the Shanghai Exhibition Center in Jing'an district — celebrates the iconic brand's heritage, craftsmanship and innovation since its founding in 1875.
The show invites visitors on a journey through time — past, present and future — exploring nearly 200 remarkable timepieces and paying tribute to the master watchmakers behind Audemars Piguet's legacy.
It also reflects the broader evolution of fine watchmaking in Switzerland — home to the best and most prized watches in the world — and beyond.
A series of themed halls are designed to bring this journey to life. The first hall, inspired by a walk-in wardrobe, sets the stage with giant watchmaker's mirrors and visual storytelling about the concept of time.
Visitors are then transported to the snowy landscape of the Vallee de Joux in Switzerland, birthplace of the brand.
Other highlights include the "Mechanical Secrets", "Gallery of Time" and "Astronomical Observatory" sections — where rare historical documents, books and iconic timepieces are on display.
Guests can explore complications such as chiming mechanisms, astronomical calendars and high-precision chronographs, showcasing the harmony between mechanical mastery and cosmic wonder.
The final stop, an innovation lab, presents cutting-edge materials and technologies that point toward the future of watchmaking.
