Leading Chinese beauty brand Florasis recently opened a new store at Grand Gateway 66 shopping mall in Shanghai's bustling Xujiahui shopping area.

As a brand that previously operated only online, this marks Florasis' first store in Shanghai — and its debut in a Chinese shopping mall.

Over the past three years, Florasis has been expanding its on-site presence both in the Chinese and overseas markets.

Its journey began in 2022 with the opening of its global flagship store in Hangzhou city in East China's Zhejiang province. The brand later launched a store in the Sanya International Duty Free City in China's southernmost Hainan province.

It then entered the European market with a counter at La Samaritaine department store in Paris and opened its first overseas flagship store at Ginza Six shopping mall in Tokyo.

Zeng Min, general manager of public affairs at Florasis parent company, Yige Group, said the decision to open its first Shanghai store in Xujiahui was carefully considered.

As one of the city's core commercial hubs, Xujiahui is said to blend strong retail appeal with cultural heritage. Grand Gateway 66, a landmark mall in the area, houses numerous global luxury brands and is widely regarded as a trendsetter in Shanghai's retail scene.

According to the Big Data Laboratory of Consumer Market, Shanghai's offline consumer spending reached 332 billion yuan ($46.32 billion) between May 1 and June 23 during the 2025 Shanghai Shopping Festival — a 9.4 percent year-on-year increase, with a daily average spend of 6.78 billion yuan.

A wave of new store openings, product launches and trendsetting events is expected to further energize Shanghai's consumer market, reinforcing its status as a global fashion and lifestyle hub.
