Chinese tea brand Heytea opened its Lab 2.0 store at Feng Sheng Li in Jing'an district on Feb 28, combining Tea Lab, Cake Lab, Gelato Lab, and Bake Lab in one space.

The launch marks Heytea Lab's return to Shanghai after a three-year hiatus and the opening of its first Lab 2.0 store nationwide.

The store offers five items available exclusively in Shanghai: Yanlan Chongming Rice Brew, Yanlan 7, Yanlan 3, Lava Egg Cake, and Flossy Salted Egg Gelato. It also introduces Bake Lab to Shanghai, with pastries such as mascarpone lava egg tart, vanilla bean custard taro tart, and triple-thick matcha croissant tart.

Three of the drinks, Yanlan Chongming Rice Brew, Yanlan 7, and Yanlan 3, use a new tea base called Yanlan Oolong. Yanlan Chongming Rice Brew combines Chongming rice brew made with traditional methods and fresh pear juice, highlighting the tea's floral and fruity notes with a light sweetness.

The Lava Egg Cake uses pork floss from Lifefun, a long-established Shanghai brand. Topped with salted egg yolk floss and filled with a molten center, it blends savory and creamy flavors.

The Feng Sheng Li store features exposed structures and unfinished materials. Movable panels divide the space into connected zones for the four labs, while displays of manuscripts for tea experiments are placed throughout the store.

From now to March 20, the store is holding a series of in-store events focused on tastings and tea-related activities.
