The recently renovated facilities at the Putuo Sports Park have opened for trial operation, welcoming the first batch of sports enthusiasts.

One basketball fan expressed excitement about the indoor upgrade. "With the renovation, the venue has transformed from an outdoor to an indoor facility, allowing me to play regardless of the weather. It's fantastic," he said.

Phase One of Putuo Sports Park occupies a 100 mu (6.67 hectare) site and can accommodate nearly 200,000 sports enthusiasts a year.

Right in the heart of Taopu town, which is a concentrated residential area, the sports park is a hub for community sports and caters to the diverse needs of residents at affordable prices.

The football field, for one thing, offers free access to elderly residents from 5 am to 8 am daily, while a nominal fee of 5 yuan (68 cents) grants access to the badminton courts for seniors.

During the trial operation period, user fees are set below market prices. The basketball court, for instance, offers a promotional rate of 9.9 yuan per person for unlimited playtime.

Overall, the Putuo Sports Park has a standard football field, a gate ball court, two basketball courts, two tennis courts and a badminton hall with five courts.

The park also features a scenic environment with tree-lined paths, a river and landscaped platforms for post-exercise relaxation.
