The Shanghai Municipal Administration of Culture and Tourism has announced plans to further facilitate reservation-free visits to cultural and tourism sites across the city.

This move is part of a broader effort to simplify the process for residents and tourists looking to explore Shanghai's rich cultural offerings.

Currently, over 3,000 establishments, including top-rated tourist attractions, art galleries, museums, libraries, cultural centers, and community hubs, have eliminated the requirement for reservation.

But eight prominent sites in the city still require real-name reservation. These are Shanghai Museum, Shanghai Children's Library, Shanghai Meteorological Museum, Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Center, WorldSkills Museum, Shanghai Telecom Museum, Shanghai Conservatory of Music Museum for Oriental Musical Instruments, and Shanghai Red Cross Historical and Cultural Exhibition Hall.

In addition, 21 other popular destinations mandate real-name registration when purchasing tickets. These venues comprise iconic landmarks such as the Oriental Pearl Tower, Shanghai Wild Animal Park, 88th Floor Sightseeing Hall of Shanghai Jin Mao Tower, Shanghai Tower Observation Deck, Shanghai Ocean Aquarium, China Maritime Museum, Yu Garden, Shanghai Lavender Park (Southern Part), Haichang Ocean Park, Madame Tussauds Shanghai and Shanghai Changfeng Ocean World.
