Tesla's 1st batch of revamped Model Y vehicles exported from Shanghai Nangang Terminal

The first shipment of 3,015 revamped Tesla Model Y electric vehicles, produced at Shanghai's Tesla Gigafactory in the Lin-gang Special Area, was loaded onto the Grand Pace, a Panama ro-ro (roll-on/roll-off) vessel, on April 15 at the Nangang Terminal of Shanghai Port.
The vehicles are bound for the Port of Kembla in Australia.
Between April 1 and April 15, the Nangang terminal experienced a significant uptick in vehicle exports, showing a 54 percent month-on-month increase and a 62 percent increase year-on-year.
The terminal's vehicle roll-on and roll-off operations will be at full capacity throughout April.
With the rise in automotive foreign trade, there has been a proportional increase in the number of international ro-ro ships arriving and departing from the terminal.
The Yangshan Port Immigration Inspection Station reported that it had inspected a total of 34 ro-ro ships in the first half of April, marking a 55 percent increase month-on-month and a remarkable 240 percent surge from the same period last year.
Nangang, designated as a national first-class open terminal, excels in domestic and international roll-on/roll-off cargo, cold chain logistics, and general cargo services.
Since its inception in August 2013, the terminal has evolved into a key hub for prominent enterprises like Sany Heavy Industry, Siemens, Tesla, and SAIC, supporting port-based manufacturing and export activities.
