At a nursing home in Yangpu district's Daqiao community, which is home to 183 elderly residents, comprehensive digital and intelligent upgrades have been implemented to deliver more efficient and precise care.

Millimeter-wave radar sensors powered by artificial intelligence now accurately detect residents' conditions and automatically trigger alarms when abnormalities occur.

Medical staff also rely on smart monitoring devices that transmit data in real time to doctors' computers, where health trend charts are automatically generated for each resident.

The facility has installed smart mattresses with two core functions: bed-exit alerts and heartbeat monitoring.

For residents with dementia or a tendency to sleepwalk at night, the system activates an alarm if they remain out of bed for more than 20 minutes, helping prevent disorientation, exposure to the cold, or accidental harm.

The mattresses simultaneously monitor heart rates in real time and issue early warnings when irregular fluctuations are detected.

In addition, the nursing home has deployed intelligent patrol robots. At night, they replace manual inspections by detecting unusual movements among residents with cognitive impairments, while during the day, they serve as interactive companions.

Through system integration, water pressure and smoke detection data from the fire protection system are now directly linked to the Shanghai Fire and Rescue.

The transformation of this facility reflects a broader push in Yangpu district, and across Shanghai, to advance digital innovation in elderly care services.
