Ski resort welcomes Chinese New Year with extra fun
Shanghai L+SNOW Indoor Skiing Theme Resort in the Lin-gang Special Area has launched a diverse array of themed activities to celebrate the upcoming Chinese New Year and the Milano-Cortina Winter Olympics.
The resort features the world's first ice sculpture inspired by the renowned painting Eight Horses in celebration of the upcoming Year of the Horse, a Winter Olympics-themed snow sculpture wall, and traditional Yingge dance. Yingge is a folk square dance that originated in South China's Guangdong province.
In addition, the resort's Nordic-themed play area has added more interactive activities, such as ice bike racing and snow bowling, creating a relaxed and fun atmosphere for visitors.
To further boost cultural and tourism consumption over the Chinese New Year holiday, the resort has partnered with Nanhui New City, a suburban town in the Pudong New Area, to roll out hotel, ticket, and dining discount coupons tailored to holiday travelers.
Since the start of 2026, overall visitor traffic at the resort has increased by about 70 percent year-on-year, and revenue has grown by around 40 percent, according to Wang Xiaobo, assistant general manager of the resort. Customer traffic is expected to rise by a further 20 percent during the Spring Festival holiday.
To enhance service quality and improve the visitor experience, the resort has optimized parking and entry guidance, added heated rest areas and new parent-child skiing packages, and upgraded safety equipment services.
With three ski trails, the L+SNOW indoor skiing resort has secured five International Ski Federation certifications.
"This means Shanghai now has a ski resort capable of hosting international-level competitions," Wang said. The resort plans to host 12 international skiing events this year.
