Seminar highlights global civilization exchange
The Seminar on Shanghai and Global Civilization Exchange and Mutual Learning, together with the launch of the Report on the Development of Global Civilization Exchange and Mutual Learning (2026), was held at the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences on June 9.
The report systematically summarizes experiences in exchanges between Chinese and foreign civilizations in Shanghai, provides theoretical support for people-to-people diplomacy, and reflects Shanghai's commitment to promoting dialogue and mutual understanding among civilizations.
Chen Jing, president of the Shanghai People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, said the many examples of people-to-people diplomacy featured in the report offer vivid illustrations of dialogue among civilizations and underscore Shanghai's distinctive role in advancing global exchanges and mutual learning.
At the seminar, participants shared cases and delivered keynote speeches, while frontline practitioners in Shanghai's people-to-people diplomacy efforts and think-tank experts engaged in in-depth discussions on the theme of "Shanghai and Global Civilization Exchange and Mutual Learning." The discussions focused on new trends, opportunities, and challenges in global civilization exchange and development.
