Shanghai-style Lantern Festival kicks off at The Inlet

Where: The Inlet, intersection of North Sichuan Road and Wujin Road, Hongkou district

The Shanghai-style Lantern Festival officially opened on Feb 9 at The Inlet, a new lifestyle hub in the city's Hongkou district.

Running for eight days, the event offers visitors a chance to experience traditional festival activities, such as lantern displays, riddle-solving and to sample tangyuan — glutinous rice balls filled with black sesame or peanut butter.

In addition to these customs, attendees can take part in physical, ancient-style games like throwing pots and rubbing prints. The festival also features a variety of performances, including a multimedia cross-genre music concert, the "Jazz Jiangnan" music series and a coupling competition.

What's more, The Inlet is hosting a range of cultural and entertainment events — including the immersive theater experience The Great Detective Zhao Gan'e and the large-scale XR immersive exploration Qin: Awakening 2. Visitors can also enjoy art exhibitions like The Liang: A Documentary of Liang Sicheng & Lin Huiyin and Legends Start Here: Shanghai Youth & Family Art Invitational Exhibition.
