From Zootopia to Yuyuan: Your Shanghai weekend covered
From a global Zootopia celebration to a forest arts fair and a month-long heritage festival at Yuyuan Garden Malls, Shanghai is in full cultural bloom this week. Here are the highlights you won't want to miss.
Zootopia 2 Global Celebration
When: Nov 18 to Jan 27, 2026
Where: Shanghai Disney Resort
Shanghai is hosting something no other city in the world has: a global celebration for Disney's Zootopia 2, set inside the planet's first and only Zootopia-themed land.
Ahead of the film's national release on Nov 26, Shanghai Disney Resort and Walt Disney China have brought the world of Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde to life with:
- All-new themed decor and story-driven details across the land
- Limited-time performances and interactive moments
- Multi-sensory experiences designed to blur the line between the film and the park
Visitors can also collect 14 limited-edition Zootopia ID cards, special park tickets that feature new and classic characters, and turn the simple act of entering the park into the start of an adventure.
And as night falls, the experience takes on an extra dose of magic. Before the "Ignite the Dream" nighttime spectacular, the Enchanted Storybook Castle becomes the canvas for a Zootopia-themed projection show, set to the upbeat rhythms of Try Everything and Zootopia.
Forest Arts Festival
When: Nov 22 to 23
Where: Pujiang Country Park
If you're craving a dose of fresh air and creativity, the Forest Arts Festival offers the perfect escape. As sunlight filters through tall pines and the scent of the earth rises around you, the park transforms into a woodland playground of art, music, and craft.
What to expect:
- A forest art exhibition with over 200 paintings
- Nine large outdoor art installations to explore and photograph
- A lively market with more than 10 creative stalls, including pottery, pressed-flower crafts, denim upcycling workshops, aromatherapy sessions, and more
Intangible Cultural Heritage Season
When: Now until Dec 14
Where: Yuyuan Garden Malls
Shanghai's Yuyuan Garden Malls has kicked off a month-long cultural season, showcasing nearly 100 traditional crafts alongside more than 20 time-honored Chinese brands in a lively, immersive public space.
Running from Nov 14 to Dec 14, the event turns the historic marketplace into an engaging arena celebrating China's living heritage in contemporary, youth-driven ways.
At the heart of this year's program is an exhibition featuring bamboo weaving and ginkgo leaves, created by a new generation of heritage artists. What's more, the central plaza features a hands-on zone where visitors can try their hand at bamboo weaving and experience the serene beauty inherent in the craft.
