Southeast Asian winter escape comes to PAC Mall
PAC Mall is hosting a warm and vibrant winter pop-up inspired by Southeast Asia, running through Dec 21. Titled Starlit Nanyang, Winter Encounter, the event is co-presented with SingCham Shanghai, the Shanghai chapter of the Singapore Chamber of Commerce and Industry in China.
Designed as Shanghai's first Nanyang-themed winter escape, the pop-up transforms the mall into an immersive bazaar that blends regional aesthetics, Southeast Asian street food, hands-on workshops, and daily performances, offering visitors a tropical getaway without leaving the city.
Step inside PAC Mall and the winter chill quickly fades. Old-style shophouses, patterned tiles, wooden boats, and gently swaying rattan lanterns recreate the atmosphere of a traditional Southeast Asian street. The air carries the aromas of spiced pork rib soup, known as bak kut teh, and sizzling satay skewers. Lush tropical plants stand out against the mall's signature red-brick architecture, creating a relaxed and festive setting.
Food takes center stage at the event. Visitors can try specialties like fish balls from Singapore's 49-year-old brand DODO. For those seeking deeper engagement, limited-time workshops offer opportunities to make Peranakan sachets or traditional Nyonya pastries.
Tropical-themed performances are held daily from noon to 8 pm, adding energy and color throughout the event.
