The ongoing Shanghai Summer International Consumption Season is turning the city into a non-stop playground of culture, sports, food, and entertainment. Beyond the 18 events introduced earlier, more than 300 activities are unfolding across alleys, waterfronts, museums, and malls. From indoor snow adventures to pet fashion shows, late-night markets to vintage dance halls, here's what's new on the list.

 

Shanghai L+SNOW Indoor Skiing Theme Resort – Summer Play Season

Home to the Guinness-certified world's largest indoor ski resort and China's first sky water park, a 20,000-square-meter, two-level indoor-outdoor complex with 26 slides and 19 attractions for all ages, L+SNOW offers a refreshing -5°C escape for just 99 yuan (about $13.79). This Summer Play Season features China's first indoor snow electronic music festival, a Peking Opera-themed skiing show, a snowball battle, and a towering 5-meter snowman perfect for photos.

To celebrate its first anniversary on Sept 6, L+SNOW will host Shanghai's first snow sculpture exhibition, blending artistry with icy elegance. Visitors can also enjoy ethnic-style ski performances that merge cultural traditions with sport, and browse the Ice & Snow Cultural Market for festive goods with a winter twist.

 

Pet Fair Asia 2025

When: Aug 20 to 24 (Note: Aug 20 to 22 for trade visitors only)

Where: No 2345 Longyang Road, Pudong New Area

Asia's largest pet industry event returns with a record-breaking 310,000-sq-m showcase, featuring more than 2,600 exhibitors, 20,000 brands, and over 2,000 product launches. Highlights include the Genius Hub for AI-powered pet innovations, Pet Fashion Week with 17 runway shows, and a special night market offering snacks, pet-themed merchandise, and even a pool where owners can splash around with their pets. The program also features high-profile competitions for dogs, cats, rabbits, and reptiles.

 

Bailian Group – Cool Summer Nights

Local retail giant Bailian Group is keeping nights lively with shopping coupons and live screenings of Chinese Super League matches, complete with gift cards and ticket giveaways. Across its many shopping centers, department stores, supermarkets, and dining outlets, hours are extended until midnight, offering everything from late-night bites to retail therapy. Rooftop movies, creative markets, and cultural performances offer night owls even more reasons to stay out after dark.

Paramount – 1933 Tonight, Shanghai Style Experience

Step through the corridors of time and back to the golden era of 1930s Shanghai at the Paramount ballroom, a witness to a century of the city's glamour and transformation. Accompanied by a local "Ye Shu" (literally "uncle" in Shanghainese, but used to refer to any adult male), guests receive a custom invitation to an evening of Art Deco elegance, where neon-lit spring dance floors shimmer, vintage music fills the air, and classic songs like Night Jasmine and Rose, Rose, I Love You are brought to life. Guests can savor a classic old Shanghai dinner, pose for photos beside a vintage gramophone, and, even with no prior experience, become the stars of the dance floor with beginner-friendly lessons.
