A group of 18 students from Kookmin University participated in a weeklong winter short-term program in Shanghai, hosted jointly by Kookmin University and Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (SUFE), starting on Jan 12.

At the opening ceremony, student representative Lee Ju-yeong shared the group's anticipation for the program, noting that participants had long been drawn to Shanghai's economic dynamism and rich cultural heritage. The program combined academic lectures, company visits, and cultural activities. During the academic lecture segment, experts from SUFE and ShanghaiTech University delivered lectures covering five core themes: China's Practice in Digitalization and Platform Economy, Trends in Digital and AI Economy Development, Enterprise Risk Control in the Digital Era, Shanghai's Financial Center Construction, and Economic Changes and Housing Markets in China's Metropolitan Areas. Through detailed case studies, the speakers examined China's economic landscape and business models from a forward-looking perspective, helping students build a systematic knowledge framework.

The students also visited four local enterprises: Shanghai Qingbao Robotics, RedNote, Alipay Lab, and Lenovo Future Center. Through discussions with company representatives, the students gained insights into innovation and development strategies in areas including AI, digital ecosystems, financial technology, and smart manufacturing. The visits provided firsthand insight into China's business environment and corporate operating models.

Cultural immersion formed another key component of the program. Students took part in a tai chi workshop, learning fundamental movements while exploring the traditional philosophy of "harmony between humanity and nature" embodied in the balance of movement and stillness.

In addition, the students explored Shanghai's urban landscape, strolling through streets and visiting landmarks such as the Bund and Yuyuan Garden, where they experienced the city's distinctive blend of historical heritage and modern vitality.
