The third season of Studying IP in Shanghai highlights the city's openness, innovation, and inclusiveness, as reflected in the collaboration between the Shanghai Intellectual Property Administration and the Shanghai International College of Intellectual Property (SICIP).
The series promotes respect for knowledge, innovation, integrity, and fair competition, with international students sharing experiences of studying and living in Shanghai while exploring China's intellectual property (IP) system firsthand.
After completing their master's degrees, Merve Sena from Turkiye and Kamran from Azerbaijan returned to the SICIP for doctoral studies, aiming to deepen their academic research and broaden their IP perspectives.
Sena is drawn to SICIP's interdisciplinary architecture, combining law, management, economics, and cutting-edge technologies. This approach allows her artificial intelligence and data mining research to closely link theory with real-world applications.
Her studies require understanding both technical logic and commercial uses of AI, bridging the gap between technology, industry practice, and IP governance.
Kamran emphasizes that learning at SICIP extends beyond classrooms. Attending forums, exhibitions, and company visits exposes him to the latest technologies and IP strategies in sectors such as AI and fashion.
From autonomous ride-hailing cars to traditional brands at Yuyuan Garden, the city acts as a dynamic classroom, showing how IP drives innovation and cultural transformation.
