A highlight of the space is its library, designed by architect Kazuhiro Sakamoto. Covering 1,700 square meters, it houses a total of 50,000 volumes, with more than 10,000 books and audiovisual materials available in the first phase. Stepped levels give the library a three-story feel, allowing visitors to explore art, design, architecture, culture, and social sciences in a dynamic, terraced layout.

Visitors can reserve a timeslot via PSA's WeChat mini-program or by emailing library@powerstationofart.com. A successful reservation generates a QR code or confirmation email that must be shown at the entrance on the day of the visit.

Trial opening hours are 11 am to 6:30 pm, and the library is closed on Mondays.

A flexible 300-seat theater

The space also includes a 300-seat theater designed to accommodate a wide range of programs, from film and moving-image works to stage performances, sound experiments, and press events. It can be linked with adjacent exhibition areas to create new ways of experiencing and engaging with the arts.

Established in 2016, the museum's design center, Power Station of Design, examines art through the lens of urban life and consumer culture. Its long-running "architecture and urbanism research series", launched in 2014, has presented more than 20 major international architecture exhibitions and positions architecture as a space for cultural inquiry and social reflection.

Espace Gabrielle Chanel also features a riverside platform offering a sweeping 180-degree view of the Huangpu River. New coffee and family-friendly areas invite visitors to pause, unwind, and experience the artistic rhythms of city life against the backdrop of the river.
