The Shanghai Municipal Development and Reform Commission released a list of unique small towns of 2023 on March 25.
There are a total of 29 unique small towns in Shanghai, spread across 11 out of 16 districts: Pudong, Xuhui, Putuo, Baoshan, Minhang, Jiading, Jinshan, Songjiang, Qingpu, Fengxian, and Chongming.
These towns encompass various industries including culture and tourism, the digital economy, advanced manufacturing, technological innovation, financial services, integration of agriculture, industry and service sectors, and sports.
What are unique small towns?
They are suburban areas with distinct features or industries that package the components of production, living, and ecology in the territory of a small town, aiming to attract talents, technology, and capital.
