Shanghai govt delegation visits HK to forge closer ties

Shanghai Mayor Gong Zheng led a delegation to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region from April 25 to 28 with the aim of strengthening ties between the two vibrant cities.
During the visit, Gong held discussions with Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu, and Zheng Yanxiong, director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the HKSAR.
In his meeting with Lee, Gong underscored Shanghai's ambitious vision of evolving into a socialist modern international metropolis with global influence, emphasizing the significance of "Shanghai Week" in Hong Kong as a catalyst for cooperation between the two cities.
Lee commended Shanghai's accomplishments and highlighted the vast potential for robust cooperation across various sectors between Hong Kong and Shanghai.
The Shanghai delegation participated in a spectrum of activities, including the 2024 Shanghai Global Investment Promotion Conference and the 2024 "Shanghai Week" series of events in Hong Kong. They also embarked on visits to some locations such as the Hong Kong Science Park, West Kowloon Cultural District, the University of Hong Kong, and the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
At the 2024 Shanghai Global Investment Promotion Conference, Gong emphasized Shanghai's commitment to enhancing institutional openness, its business environment, and urban governance. He extended an invitation to friends in Hong Kong to witness Shanghai's development firsthand, highlighting a spirit of cooperation for mutual success.
