In commemoration of China Tourism Day on May 19, the Shanghai Municipal Administration of Culture and Tourism conducted an awards ceremony to honor outstanding achievements in the tourism sector.

One of the scenic attractions recognized at the event was Xisha Mingzhu Lake Scenic Area in Chongming district, which has now become the city's fifth national 5A tourist attraction. The event also announced the designation of the first batch of national industrial tourism demonstration bases.

The Xisha Mingzhu Lake Scenic Area became the first ecological park that has become a 5A tourist attraction in Shanghai. In recent years, the area has also been enhancing its service facilities, supporting functions, and scenic offerings to serve as a premier destination for travelers seeking a harmonious blend of nature and leisure in Shanghai.

Additionally, accolades were bestowed upon the Suzhou Creek Waterfront Industrial Tourism Base, the Shanghai Laogang Ecological Base, and the Jiangnan Shipyard National Industrial Tourism Demonstration Base, underscoring Shanghai's commitment to promoting diverse tourism experiences that showcase the city's rich cultural and industrial heritage.

Shanghai's burgeoning industrial tourism sector has witnessed remarkable growth over the past two years, with the city now boasting over 290 industrial relics, 149 municipal cultural and creative industry clusters, 65 industry museums, and more than 300 science popularization bases. The city currently features 83 industrial tourism scenic spots and has introduced 39 immersive industrial tourism routes, contributing significantly to Shanghai's evolution as a prominent global tourism hub.
