Shanghai's Chongming district is set to propel its ecological economy to new heights following the signing of 27 pivotal projects at the 2024 Chongming District Investment Promotion Conference on June 12.

The signing ceremony took place at the Shanghai International Convention Center, in conjunction with the "Invest Shanghai" global investment promotion, where Chongming district showcased its high-quality investment opportunities, industrial application scenarios, and favorable policies.

In recent years, Chongming district has been steadfast in its mission to transform into a world-class ecological island, placing a strong emphasis on environmental sustainability and providing a fertile ground for innovation and investment platforms.

The 27 signed projects have an anticipated investment exceeding 7.7 billion yuan ($1.04 billion), and span various sectors such as green finance, intelligent manufacturing, low-carbon energy, ecological agriculture and healthcare.

The Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization has pledged to enhance collaboration with Chongming district to establish an industry chain investment mechanism. This strategic partnership will focus on integrating agriculture, tourism, health, culture, artificial intelligence, extended reality, deep-sea exploration, and mining sectors.

Xu Huiquan, deputy director of Chongming district, highlighted the district's five major industrial parks, which are equipped with ample carrier resources that can cater to the diverse functional requirements of enterprises. The district is committed to establishing a distinctive, intensive, efficient, and modern ecological sector.

Chongming district is focusing on green agriculture and marine equipment manufacturing with the aim to establish an agricultural "Silicon Valley" in the Yangtze River Delta Region. The district is also striving to create a national marine economy demonstration zone on Changxing island.
