The westward extension of Shanghai Metro Line 17, a significant infrastructure development connecting Dongfang Lyvzhou Sation to Xicen Station in Shanghai's QingPu district, has entered the testing phase. It is expected to be completed by the end of this year.

The ongoing tests encompass various aspects such as power supply to the contact rail, hot sliding tests on the contact rail, as well as comprehensive assessments of vehicles and signals, as outlined by the project management team from the China Railway 11th Bureau Group.

Spanning a distance of 6.6 kilometers and entirely elevated, the westward extension of Shanghai Metro Line 17 will serve the Yangtze River Delta Integration Demonstration Zone and the Huawei Science and Technology Innovation Research Center once operational.

In parallel developments, progress continues on the Shanghai-Suzhou-Huzhou high-speed railway project, which connects with Suzhou in Jiangsu province and Huzhou in Zhejiang province. As a major station along the new rail line, the Liantang Station located in Qingpu district is set to complete construction in July. The station, covering 4,500 square meters and featuring two platforms and four tracks, has finalized its primary structure, with interior and exterior finishing work scheduled for completion by the end of June. Static acceptance procedures are slated for July, paving the way for the station and the new rail line to commence operations by the year's end. It will significantly reduce travel time from Shanghai to Huzhou in the neighboring Zhejiang province from the current two hours to a mere 40 minutes.
