Love starts from head
The "Love Starts from the Head — 9th Hair Donation Public Welfare Action" was launched at No 4 Middle School Affiliated to East China Normal University (ECNU) on June 26, with 10 schools joining the hair donation drive for leukemia patients.
Eighty-four hair donors from Putuo district and various parts of Shanghai came together to donate their long locks to the young patients at Shanghai Children's Hospital. Hairdressers from the Shanghai Hair and Beauty Industry Association delicately styled the donated hair, while photographers captured these beautiful moments of kindness.

Just a walk away from No 4 Middle School Affiliated to ECNU lies Shanghai Children's Hospital, where a group of children battle leukemia and other chronic diseases, undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatments that often lead to hair loss. Witnessing the emotional toll on these children, students at the school were deeply moved, inspiring them to establish a hair donation drive.
Reflecting on the impact, one student shared, "The hair donation event was a pivotal moment that inspired me to participate in volunteer service. It gave me new insights into how to engage in volunteer service in society and motivated me to pay attention to more groups in need."

Since 2016, No 4 Middle School Affiliated to ECNU, through partnerships with Shanghai Children's Hospital, the Shanghai Hair and Beauty Industry Association, and enterprises like Boke Technology Group Co Ltd, has become the first school in Shanghai to establish a hair donation charity project. Over time, this initiative has extended its reach to encompass a wider scope.
To date, the school's hair donation program has orchestrated 208 hair donation events, involving 1,477 donors and benefiting 159 patients who have received wigs.
