The Terminal 3 project, part of Shanghai Pudong International Airport's Phase IV expansion plan, was publicized from July 8 to 15. It has since been lauded for its environmental concerns.
The expansion plan includes six parts, namely the new terminal area, flight zone, transportation facilities, municipal engineering support facilities, the eastern cargo area, and auxiliary facilities.
According to the plan, the project will start construction in October this year and be completed by the end of 2027.
Other focal points of the project include the ramp in the terminal area, support buildings, business premises, and the south and north comprehensive transportation center.
According to an announcement by the Shanghai Airport Authority on June 26, Terminal 3 will feature two twin terminal buildings for domestic and international flights.
After the completion of the new terminal, Shanghai Pudong International Airport is expected to have an estimated passenger throughput of 130 million annually.
