The upcoming Shanghai Tourism Festival, scheduled to take place from Sept 14 to Oct 6, is set to enchant attendees with 25 floats, which will parade through the city's 12 districts in a series of 12 distinct events, promising a visual extravaganza for all.

The Float Parade, which has been a tradition of the annual festival since 1993, will kick off its grand procession on East Nanjing Road on Sept 14, as announced by the Shanghai Municipal Administration of Culture and Tourism. In the following days the procession will wind its way through various districts of Shanghai, including Huangpu, Jing'an, Putuo, Songjiang, Chongming, Fengxian, Jinshan, Jiading, Yangpu, Qingpu, Baoshan, and the Lin-gang Special Area in Pudong New Area, covering approximately 1,800 kilometers.

Among the impressive lineup of floats, nine will showcase cities in the Yangtze River Delta region, including Nanjing, Suzhou, Nantong, Changzhou in Jiangsu province, Quzhou, Jiaxing in Zhejiang province, and Huangshan in Anhui province. These floats will be adorned with design elements inspired by each city's iconic landmarks, encompassing historic architecture, natural landscapes, and ancient water towns.

In addition, eight floats will highlight Shanghai's local attractions, featuring cultural and tourism landmarks such as the Lego Land Shanghai Resort, SAGA City of Light, and Shanghai Sheshan National Tourist Resort. Furthermore, districts and regions like Baoshan, Chongming, and the Lin-gang Special Area will each have their own distinctive floats.

Two floats are dedicated to showcasing the cultural richness of Northeast China's Jilin province and Dunhuang, a historical city in Gansu province renowned for its Mogao Caves. Additionally, three cities — Shigatse and Kashgar in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, and Zunyi in Guizhou province — which are paired with Shanghai for development aid by the central government, will have individual floats to highlight their unique tourism offerings.
