Pet&Fresh, a Shanghai-based retailer specializing in fresh pet food, will open its first physical store on Feb 22 at C.PARK Haisu, a commercial complex in Changning district.

The company was founded by Hou Yi, former co-founder of Freshippo, an infulential Chinese e-commerce grocery and fresh food retail chain owned by Alibaba Group.

Pet&Fresh aims to leverage Freshippo's well-established fresh food supply chain to offer high-quality, nutritious food for pets. "We hope to meet our animal friends' nutritional needs through a diverse array of fresh food instead of traditional kibble," he said.

The store is the first of its kind, offering freshly prepared pet food, creative pet pastries, refrigerated fresh pet food, and over 300 pet snacks and pet products by leading brands.

The store aims to provide a more scientific and modern choice for pet owners. Compared with traditional pet foods such as pellet feed, freeze-dried pet food, and canned food, fresh food is more nutritious and beneficial for pets' health.

According to the store, all fresh food is produced and tested by the central kitchen, adopting human food class sterilization technology. All the raw materials are provided through trustworthy leading companies, from a supply chain in favor of Freshippo's footprints.

It is also designed to be a meeting place for pets and their owners, with a special area set aside for pet parties.
