Registration opens for Shanghai Yangtze River Half Marathon
The 2025 Shanghai Yangtze River Half Marathon is now open for runner registrations, with the race due to take place on March 30 on Shanghai's Chongming Island.
The race, certified as an A1-class competition by the China Athletics Association and established in 2014, is known as a test field for Shanghai marathon runners.
The latest event features a repeat participation rate of 69.3 percent – meaning that over 60 percent of the runners have taken part in the race more than twice.
During last year's competition, over 49.3 percent of the runners refreshed their personal best scores, making it the competition's best score yet.
Many attribute the high popularity of the Shanghai Yangtze River Half Marathon to its inspiring venue of Chongming Island.
It features a flat and even terrain for the running course and above-standard fresh air, making it ideal for participants.
This year's event will add an EMBA or an Executive Master of Business Administration elite race, calling for competition teams from business schools and colleges.
The race will sort out the winners by the average score of all participating team members. All teams completing their race will receive gratuities and memorial trophies.
The race will kick off at Chenjia town's bicycle theme park in Chongming district, running a total route of 21.0975 kilometers. Both the starting and finishing lines are at the park. The race will allow a total of 5,000 runners to compete.
