Shanghai to host 'skate & run' marathon

The 2025 World Skate Marathon Tour (Shanghai) and the 2025 Huangpu Half Marathon will kick off at 7 am on March 30 at Jinniu Square on the Bund.
The event, which pioneered the combination of roller skating and road running in Asia, will feature impressive participation.
The skating race is expected to attract nearly 2,000 participants from 31 countries and regions, and the road running, which has been upgraded from a quarter marathon to a half marathon, has already seen over 32,000 registrations from 49 countries and regions, far exceeding the 8,000 slots available.
The race will adopt a staggered start, with skaters setting off first from Jinniu Square followed by runners 15 minutes later.
Both groups will share the course initially before branching out, with the half marathon ending at the Shanghai World Expo Huangpu Sports Park.
The 42-km and 21-km skating races will continue along the Huangpu River, with the finish line located at No 68 East Longhua Road. The 10-km skating race will end at the Shanghai World Expo Museum.

The race routes will take athletes through iconic landmarks including the Bund, Middle Huaihai Road, People's Square, the former site of the First National Congress of the Communist Party of China, and the Huangpu riverfront, showcasing the charm of Shanghai's diverse cultural and natural landscapes.
The event has also been designed to promote Huangpu's unique charm and cultural heritage, with local businesses partnering to provide a variety of experiences for participants, including guided tours, local delicacies, shopping discounts, and accommodation options.
Meanwhile, a clothing recycling initiative organized in partnership with the Foresight Foundation will promote the event’s commitment to sustainability and green living.
