Shanghai's largest pure car and truck carrier given a name

Shanghai's largest pure car and truck carrier (PCTC), which is under construction, has been officially named as "Wen Jing Kou", announced its builder China State Shipbuilding Corporation's (CSSC) Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co Ltd on March 20.
The vessel, which boasts a maximum of 8,600 parking spaces, is the first of the dual-powered large PCTC series being built by Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding for Citic Financial Leasing Co Ltd. Designed independently by the Shanghai Merchant Ship Design and Research Institute (SDARI), a CSSC subsidiary, the vessel is 199.9 meters in length and 38 meters in width.

Boasting 14 car decks, the vessel can load various types of vehicles with high efficiency and convenience, including sedans, trucks, buses, trailers, cargo, and various new energy vehicles.
The PCTC has a combined deck area of about 75,000 square meters, nearly equivalent to 11 standard soccer fields, which involves huge volume of engineering. For instance, the total number of lashing bowls required to secure vehicles is close to 65,000, the insulation construction area exceeds 100,000 square meters, and the total length of cables is about 500 kilometers.
