Shanghai's Hero Esports league winners secure place at EWC
The Hero Esports Asian Champions League, Asia's first international, multi-title esports tournament hosted by the region's largest esports company Hero Esports, wrapped up on May 18 in Shanghai.
With a total prize pool of $2 million, the ACL Grand Finals were held simultaneously across three venues in Shanghai from May 16 to 18.
Among the tournament’s nine esports titles, Xtreme Gaming defeated Team Tidebound 3-2 in the Dota 2 final on May 16, while Tyloo beat Lynn Vision Gaming 2-0 in the Counter-Strike 2 final on the same day.
Baisha Gaming claimed the Crossfire championship on May 17, and Talent Gaming continued its winning streak with a 4-2 victory over Dragon Ranger Gaming in the Honor of Kings event.
The winners of these four titles have secured direct entry into the Esports World Cup (EWC), the world's largest comprehensive international esports tournament held annually in Saudi Arabia during the summer.
Moreover, multiple direct EWC qualification spots were awarded to both Chinese and Asia-Pacific representatives in the Teamfight Tactics, Street Fighter 6, and Valorant Champions Tour events.
All three competitions concluded on May 18. Team Falcons avenged their previous loss to T1 with a 3-0 sweep in the Teamfight Tactics final. DRX defeated Paper Rex 3-1 in the Valorant final, while Japanese veteran Tokido stood on top in the Street Fighter 6 final.
In addition, Eagle Area claimed first place in the Legend Cup of League of Legends, and Team China took home the championship trophy in the Delta Force event.
Along with the thrilling esports competitions, the ACL grand finals also featured the notable gaming festival DreamHack, which made its China debut with immersive, interactive and comprehensive experiences for global esports enthusiasts.
