High-speed trains add 79 new meal options

Altogether 79 new meal options, including cold dishes, hot dishes, and bakery items, have been added to the menu list for travelers on the high-speed trains in the Yangtze River Delta region since July 1, the China Railway Shanghai Group Co Ltd said.
Highlights include playfully designed, nutritionally balanced children's set meals, introduced in response to rising family travel demand during the summer holiday.
Among the new options, 10 are light meals featuring grains, vitamin-rich vegetables and fruits, high-quality protein from meat and eggs, as well as soybeans and nuts. Each meal includes at least six ingredients.
The high-speed train operator said passengers can order food by scanning QR codes beside their seats or by going directly to the dining car.
"We will continue to collect passenger feedback and continuously improve meal options and supply models," said Yuan Chao, catering manager at Shanghai Huatie Passenger Service Co Ltd, a subsidiary of China Railway Shanghai Group.
