Typhoon Danas triggers weather alerts and disruptions in Shanghai
Although Shanghai enjoyed clear skies on July 7, the outer circulation of Typhoon Danas, the fourth typhoon of the year, is expected to bring scattered showers, gusty winds, and cooler temperatures to the city on July 8, with localized areas forecast to receive moderate to heavy rainfall.
According to the China Meteorological Administration, as of around 7 pm on July 7, Danas, currently at tropical storm strength, was located about 175 kilometers south of Wenling city, Zhejiang province. It is expected to make landfall along the coasts of Zhejiang and Fujian between the afternoon and evening of July 8.
The Shanghai Meteorological Service forecast that localized areas could see total rainfall reach moderate to heavy levels. A blue wind warning has been issued, with most parts of the city expected to experience winds at force 7 to 8 on the Beaufort scale over the next 12 hours. Residents are advised to take precautions, especially concerning outdoor work, travel, and agricultural operations.
Throughout the week, daily high temperatures in Shanghai will remain between 32 C and 34 C. Cloudy skies and scattered showers are expected to persist. Residents are advised to carry umbrellas and monitor official weather updates for any sudden changes.
