Xuhui game industry service center issues first business license
A newly established subsidiary of Shanghai-based game developer miHoYo was granted the first corporate business license (No 001) by the recently launched Shanghai Xuhui Game Industry Service Center on July 16.
Founded and incubated in Xuhui district, miHoYo has grown into a leading name in the game industry. Remarkably, the entire license application and approval process was completed within just one day.
Xia Wenting, director of public affairs at miHoYo, shared that new companies can now submit application materials online through the Government Online-Offline Shanghai platform, with approved licenses being delivered by mail.
This advancement represents a shift from 2011, when miHoYo was founded. At that time, the founders had to visit multiple government offices in person to complete the registration process. Thanks to online services, startups now have the same access to government resources and platforms as large enterprises. This streamlined process has been facilitated by the Shanghai Xuhui Game Industry Service Center, which opened on July 8 at Caohejing Development Park.
The center offers eight major services, including government services, compliance support, talent recruitment and development, as well as business incubation and acceleration. Companies can not only obtain licenses locally, but also seek guidance on various matters, ranging from business registration and intellectual property protection to regulatory compliance.
The center collaborates with institutions such as the Video Game Museum of CADPA and various industry incubators to establish Xuhui as a hub for high-quality game R&D, global publishing, and creative development.
According to Gui Yan, head of the center, the platform has hosted eight themed seminars since its soft launch, with the inaugural session on Feb 14 attracting representatives from over 50 companies. The center now receives daily visits from companies seeking consultation and plans to further enhance its support services to drive the global expansion of China's game industry.
