Shanghai braces for tsunami after powerful quake in Russian far east
A magnitude-8.8 earthquake struck off the eastern coast of Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula on July 30, triggering a tsunami warning and prompting the evacuation of residents from areas at risk.

The Tsunami Warning Center of China's Ministry of Natural Resources has issued a yellow tsunami alert, warning of potential destructive impacts on some coastal areas in Taiwan, Zhejiang and Shanghai.
The wave is expected to hit Shanghai at 7:09 pm, with wave heights ranging from 30 to 100 centimeters, the center said.
Coastal residents should follow the government's instructions to evacuate in an orderly and safe manner.
Once individuals in the sea, on the beaches or in low-lying coastal areas observe signs of an impending tsunami, they must cease all activities and run to higher ground immediately, it added.
