Shanghai's two major airports, Pudong International Airport and Hongqiao International Airport, have streamlined terminal entrance procedures to speed up passenger flow and improve the overall travel experience.

Starting from Aug 12, only explosive detection checks are carried out at terminal entrances, while the previous full body and luggage inspections have been removed. Standard security screening before boarding remains unchanged.

Airport staff say this change aims to reduce congestion and save time, especially during peak hours. Many passengers on social media praised the move, noting it eliminates the need to unpack and repack bags multiple times.
