Shanghai Charity Week 2025 kicks off

The 2025 Shanghai Charity Week opened on Aug 31, just ahead of China’s 10th Charity Day on Sept 5.

At the opening ceremony, the 2024 Report on the Development of Philanthropy in Shanghai was released.

By the end of 2024, Shanghai had 663 charitable organizations, including 40 with public fundraising qualifications.

The city was home to 91 community foundations, which reported a combined net asset of 295 million yuan ($40.7 million), annual income of 71.8 million yuan, and annual public welfare expenditures totaling 63.35 million yuan.

Nearly 40 events will take place across the city during the Shanghai Charity Week, including a group charity wedding and a campaign supporting migrant and autistic children in collaboration with more than 80 coffee brands across over 1,300 stores.
