Longhua Terminal on the Huangpu River will launch a refined sightseeing cruise route on Sept 5, offering residents and tourists a refined river tour experience.

The route blends the historical charm of century-old industrial heritage with the vibrancy of the international art district and the beauty of the waterfront.

It was first trialed on May 19 with the maiden voyage of the cruise ship Yunjin Gongzhu, which introduced pet-friendly services, electronic music parties, and family-friendly activities.

The core product, the one-hour loop that departs from Longhua Terminal, turns back at Lupu Bridge, and passes landmarks such as the Gate M West Bund Dream Center, Long Museum, and the Juss International Equestrian Center.

A regular service will operate every Saturday and Sunday starting Sept 5, with frequent adjustments planned from October based on passenger demand.

Tickets are priced at 150 yuan ($21) per person, with an early-bird discount of 80 yuan available through the end of 2025.

Beyond the basic loop, the Huangpu River Cruise Group will roll out a variety of themed experiences, including dining cruises, pet-friendly trips, and holiday-themed voyages for National Day and New Year's Eve.

Customized packages will be offered for group bookings, including Red tourism programs to sites with historical and cultural significance for the Communist Party of China, as well as corporate team-building activities.

Tickets can be purchased through the “Huangpu River Cruise” (浦江游览) WeChat mini-program, with plans to expand to online travel agencies like Ctrip and Meituan. A physical ticket window will also be available.

Cruise passengers will enjoy dining discounts at designated restaurants in the Gate M West Bund Dream Center, while membership will provide additional benefits linking onboard and onshore experiences.

The new tour route is part of Shanghai's broader effort to develop the Huangpu River into a world-class waterfront destination.
