Global conference on sustainability to be held in Shanghai

The 2025 Sustainability Global Leaders Conference will take place from Oct 16 to 18 in Shanghai's Huangpu district, bringing together nearly 500 guests from China and abroad to promote action on sustainable development.

Conference discussions will cover a range of topics, including energy and carbon neutrality, green finance, and sustainable consumption.

Attendees include Nobel and Turing Award laureates, global Fortune 500 executives, and representatives from international organizations.

A key highlight will be the release of the 2025 Shanghai ESG Development Report, compiled by Shanghai Jiao Tong University's Advanced Finance Institute, which aims to provide policy insights for urban sustainability.

Two major side events, the Green Industry and Sustainable Consumption Expo and the Sustainable Case Studies Exhibition, will showcase innovations across industries.

Huangpu district, as the permanent venue of the conference, will highlight its low-carbon initiatives, such as virtual power plants, carbon efficiency codes for buildings, and a digital carbon management platform.

Nanjing Road commercial district, as a national pilot for enhancing carbon efficiency in existing buildings, employs digital solutions and retrofits to cut carbon emissions.

Yuyuan Garden business circle integrates sustainability into its ongoing smart infrastructure building.
