The autonomous driving test scenario between Shanghai and Suzhou has been connected, as announced at the "Artificial Intelligence + Transportation" Shanghai Release 2025 event on Dec 7.

This advancement is expected to promote industrial synergy across the Yangtze River Delta region and create a broader environment for the commercial operation of autonomous driving technology.‌

As a key support for interconnectivity, Shanghai now has 3,173 autonomous driving test roads totaling 5,238.82 kilometers, covering about one-third of the city's urban area.

During the event, several pioneering initiatives were unveiled, including the launch of the "AI+" application innovation matrix for transportation, the creation of a data innovation laboratory, and the signing of two strategic cooperation agreements focusing on the digital integration of transportation and meteorology, as well as the development of an intelligent transportation system based on technologies such as 5G-A.

In addition, the nation's first service platform for open access and application management of traffic signal data across a megacity was launched. The platform provides real-time data from 7,600 intersections, offering a strong boost for the research and mass production of advanced autonomous driving technologies.

This event drew 200 representatives of domestic transportation enterprises and government departments to explore ways to deepen the integration of artificial intelligence and transportation.

It not only highlights the achievements of China's smart transportation sector but also solidifies the consensus for transformation and upgrading across various fields.
