A business matching event in Shanghai highlighted the deepening economic ties between Chinese and South Korean fashion brands.

The gathering brought together nearly 40 South Korean companies at the Hengfu Art Center in Xuhui district.

Numerous Korean brands expressed strong interest in tapping into the Chinese market through Xuhui, as well as potential collaboration with local brands and designers.

Among the participants was Musinsa, a leading South Korean fashion platform that entered China in 2025. Kim Dae-hyun, head of Musinsa China, praised Xuhui's supportive business services.

From office setup and visa assistance to tax guidance, the district government provided timely solutions, Kim said.

Musinsa has since opened two stores in Shanghai, including a multi-brand concept store on Anfu Road featuring about 40 Korean and Chinese brands.

Xuhui district has emerged as a hub for international companies, hosting 175 foreign-funded regional headquarters and research and development centers.

Well-known South Korean brands such as MLB, Hankook Tire, and Hanwha Vision already operate there. The area's Wukang Road-Anfu Road block, now a popular shopping destination, has attracted flagship stores including Adidas Originals, Le Labo, and most recently, Lemaire.

Kim also noted the growing convergence of interest between Chinese and South Korean youth, driven by cross-cultural exchanges. Musinsa is now helping two Chinese shoe and apparel brands enter the South Korean market, Kim added.

According to Wei Lan, deputy district mayor of Xuhui, the district will continue to improve its business environment, leveraging historic landmarks and new commercial complexes to attract more global brands.
