March 18 – Shanghai Mayor Gong Zheng met with Paul Pathy, president of the Baltic and International Maritime Council, and David Loosley, chief executive officer and secretary-general of the organization.

Gong expressed hope for closer cooperation and called on BIMCO to support Shanghai in enhancing its shipping service capabilities and bringing more digital, intelligent, and green shipping achievements to the city.

Pathy and Loosley said Shanghai is a major international shipping center and that BIMCO has maintained close and productive cooperation with the city over the years, adding that the organization inaugurated a new office in Shanghai.

They said BIMCO will continue to support Shanghai's development as an international shipping center, promote high-end shipping services, advance the digitalization of shipping and trade and the green transformation of shipping, help amplify China's voice in global shipping, and look forward to achieving new outcomes in cooperation.
