Shanghai will host the Hongqiao International Coffee Culture Festival from May 9, connecting more than 20 coffee-producing countries worldwide.

Part of the Shanghai International Coffee Culture Festival series, this event follows a 2025 edition that attracted over 800 brands and 160,000 attendees, generating substantial online engagement.

The third Hongqiao International Specialty Coffee Exhibition, which will run from May 17 to 20, aims to create a comprehensive cooperation platform encompassing the entire coffee industry.

The Hongqiao Import Commodity Exhibition and Trading Center, the venue of the festival, seeks to highlight Shanghai and Hongqiao's position as a hub of the coffee industry.

The festival will cover the full industrial chain, from raw bean trading and roasting to retail, equipment, and cross-industry collaborations, offering a bean-to-brew experience.

Beyond traditional coffee offerings, the event will explore intersections with related industries, incorporating cocoa, baked goods, and even alcoholic beverages to provide immersive consumer experiences.

Building on existing partnerships, the festival plans to connect coffee-growing regions directly with consumption markets, deepening cooperation between Shanghai and Yunnan, a major coffee-producing province in Southwest China.

The festival will also partner with Bakery China 2026, a leading baking trade fair, to leverage cross-promotional opportunities.

In addition, the "Taste of China" Global Specialty Green Coffee Bean Competition will return, showcasing high-quality beans and facilitating trade. The inaugural 2024 competition resulted in direct trade purchases exceeding 5 million yuan (about $724,000).

Another highlight, the Hongqiao International Coffee Industry Chain Ecosystem Conference, will bring together industry leaders to discuss the future landscape of coffee culture and sustainable development.
