Book on Shanghai's history and culture released in Chicago
A book titled Discover Shanghai: Citywalk Along Suzhou Creek was recently launched at the Chicago Cultural Center, a major cultural landmark in the United States.
Co-published by Shanghai Press and Publishing Development Co Ltd, under Shanghai Century Publishing Group, and the Independent Publishers Group, the book explores 26 historic buildings along Suzhou Creek.
Through curated citywalk routes designed for architecture, food, sports, and culture enthusiasts, it offers international readers a fresh perspective on Shanghai's history and culture.
Chinese Consul General in Chicago Wang Baodong welcomed the book's publication and called for stronger friendship-city ties between Shanghai and Chicago, inviting more Americans to visit China.
The Independent Publishers Group in Chicago expressed interest in bringing more stories from Shanghai to global audiences.
Chicago Deputy Mayor Kenya Merritt attended the event, along with representatives from the local cultural, publishing, educational, and media sectors.
The book is now available at the Foreign Languages Bookstore.
