The China-Europe Railway Express (Shanghai), which connects Shanghai and Neuss in Germany, launched the premium service on June 8, announced Shanghai Customs.
The launch of the service, which departs from Shanghai every Saturday on a fixed schedule, provides a new logistics channel for high value-added and time-sensitive goods. With a fixed number of trains and a total travel time of 20 days, the new service is set to offer high-quality and efficient logistics to more customers in the Yangtze River Delta region.
Shanghai Customs said it has set up a service window to communicate with enterprises and understand their needs for the China-Europe rail service.
Since the first China-Europe Railway Express (Shanghai) was launched on Sept 28, 2021, over 100 cities and stations in 12 countries have been connected via its China-Europe route, China-Russia route, and China-Central Asia route. Its railway services fall under three categories: public, customized, and premium.
Compared with the public rail service, which offers scheduled rail transportation services at discounted prices, the premium service is tailored to individual customer requirements. It aims to ensure fast and direct delivery with precise timing. The customized service involves goods such as cars, meats and timber.
According to statistics from Shanghai Customs, as of May 31, a total of 213 trains have been operated since the China-Europe Railway Express started in Shanghai more than two years ago, carrying 21,404 TEUs containers of goods, with a total value of 7.3 billion yuan ($1 billion).
