Oct 31 – Shanghai Party Secretary Chen Jining met with Finnish President Alexander Stubb.
Chen noted that Shanghai is willing to deepen practical cooperation with Finland in areas such as trade and investment, technological innovation, creative design, and people-to-people exchanges. He emphasized the importance of enhancing exchanges between friendship cities.
President Stubb highlighted Shanghai's status as a crucial link for friendly exchanges between Finland and China and an important investment destination for Finnish companies. He expressed his desire to strengthen mutual learning to advance the bilateral relationship.
Nov 3 – Shanghai Mayor Gong Zheng met with Lord Mayor Dan Boyle of Cork in Ireland.
Gong highlighted that Shanghai and Cork became the first pair of friendship cities between China and Ireland in 2005. He called for enhanced economic and trade cooperation and encouraged Shanghai enterprises to invest in Cork.
Boyle highlighted Cork's willingness to participate in the China International Import Expo and strengthen cooperation with Shanghai in the fields of information technology, biomedicines, renewable energy, and new energy vehicles to advance emission reduction and carbon mitigation technologies.
