Oct 24 – Shanghai Party Secretary Chen Jining met with Walmart CEO Doug McMillon in Shanghai.

Chen highlighted Shanghai's commitment to creating a more market-oriented, law-based, and internationalized business environment.

He welcomed Walmart to leverage Shanghai's supportive policies on cross-border e-commerce to bring more products into China and promote Chinese products globally.

McMillon shared updates on Walmart's operations in China, particularly in Shanghai, underscoring the company's strong commitment to investing in the city.

He expressed Walmart's goal to build a resilient supply chain by partnering with local businesses, integrating e-commerce and retail, and establishing a model for digital retail that offers cost-effective products and an enhanced customer experience.

He welcomed Bristol Myers Squibb to expand its presence in Shanghai – specifically in clinical research, drug development, manufacturing, and health insurance, aiming to further benefit patients and support Shanghai's high-quality biopharmaceutical development.

Boerner affirmed the company's commitment to increasing investment in Shanghai and expanding new collaboration areas, utilizing advanced technologies like AI and big data to boost the city's life sciences and medical industries.
