Shanghai hosts selection for city ambassadors promoting tourism
Shanghai hosted a two-day preliminary selection to identify city ambassadors tasked with promoting Shanghai as a premier international tourist destination.
The event, which took place over the past weekend, saw a total of 503 candidates vying for the role, including 15 overseas candidates hailing from 11 countries and regions.
Jointly organized by the city's culture and tourism authorities, as well as the human resources department, the selection process aimed to identify individuals who could effectively represent Shanghai on the global stage and attract visitors from around the world.
The selection process featured two distinct tracks for competition.
The first track assessed candidates' proficiency in tourism knowledge, route planning, and application of laws and regulations, in alignment with national standards.
The second track encouraged candidates to harness new media platforms, such as short videos, to develop innovative tourism promotion products that integrate digital content creation and cross-border communication strategies.
Candidates who successfully navigate the selection contest will advance to the final round scheduled for May 17, where they will have the opportunity to showcase their talents and capabilities further.
According to the event organizers, aspiring city ambassadors must possess a diverse skill set that includes content creation, social media promotion, and cross-cultural communication abilities. These individuals should be adept at vividly portraying Shanghai through various media platforms, capturing the essence of the city's unique attractions and offerings.
The appointed city ambassadors are expected to play a pivotal role in key tourism events, contributing to Shanghai's reputation as a top-tier destination for travelers worldwide.
By leveraging their skills and creativity, these ambassadors will help showcase Shanghai's cultural richness, historical significance, and modern vibrancy to a global audience, fostering greater interest and engagement in the city's tourism sector.
